How to play, in one minute
Find every word on the list. They're hidden in the grid in straight lines. Tap a word's first letter, then its last letter, and it gets a colored band and is crossed off the list. You can also drag across a word with your finger or the mouse.
- Pick a level. Easy is a 10 by 10 grid with 10 words running across (left to right) and down. Medium is 12 by 12 and adds diagonals. Hard is 15 by 15, with words in all eight directions, backwards included.
- Either end works. Tap the last letter first if you spot that one. When the two letters aren't in a straight line, or what's between them isn't on the list, the game says so in red above the grid.
- Stuck? Hint circles the first letter of a word you haven't found yet. You get 6 per puzzle, and pressing it again before you find that word doesn't use another one.
- Letters too small? Settings has three letter sizes. On a phone, Medium and Hard grids get a button that makes the letters bigger and lets you scroll the grid sideways.

There are 48 themes, from backyard birds and baking day to national parks, classic cars and the presidents from Washington to Wilson. Choose one under "Theme for new puzzles", or leave it on Any theme and get a different one each time. Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No account, no download and no limit on puzzles. The site may show ads in the future to pay for itself; they'll never cover the grid.
What makes this word search large print?
The grid fills the space you have. On a phone the Easy grid spans the screen, and on a computer each square can be up to 66 pixels wide with the Biggest letter size. Letters are bold black on a white board, in light and dark mode alike. Found words get a wide colored band, not a thin circle, so you can see at a glance what's left.
Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. You don't need a steady finger to drag across a word: tap the first letter, then the last. On Hard, the 15 by 15 grid fits the width of a phone with smaller letters, or you can tap "Bigger letters" and scroll the grid instead.
Will I lose my puzzle if I close the page?
No. Each level saves its own puzzle in this browser after every word, along with your time. Clearing your browser data or switching devices starts fresh.
Are any words backwards?
Only on Hard. Easy words read left to right or top to bottom. Medium adds diagonals, still read forwards. Hard uses all eight directions, so a word can read right to left or bottom to top.
Can a word be hidden twice?
No. Before a grid reaches you, our generator checks that every word on the list can be read in exactly one place, in any direction. It also never puts two words in the same puzzle when one is part of the other, like Virginia and West Virginia.
Is there a daily puzzle?
Yes. The daily word search changes at midnight where you are, and everyone who plays on the same date gets the same grid. Finish it on consecutive days to build a streak.
Can I print a puzzle?
The Print button prints the grid you're playing with its word list. For proper sheets in large print, with an answer key on its own page, use printable word search. It can print five puzzles at once, which helps if you run activities for a group.
