Farkle scoring chart
In farkle, a single 1 scores 100 and a single 5 scores 50. Three of a kind scores 100 times the number, except three 1s, which score 1,000. Four, five and six of a kind score 1,000, 2,000 and 3,000, and a 1-to-6 straight or three pairs score 1,500. Every other die scores nothing on its own.
The chart
| Combination | Points | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Single 1 | 100 | Any 1 you set aside |
| Single 5 | 50 | Any 5 you set aside |
| Three 1s | 1,000 | 1, 1, 1 |
| Three 2s | 200 | 2, 2, 2 |
| Three 3s | 300 | 3, 3, 3 |
| Three 4s | 400 | 4, 4, 4 |
| Three 5s | 500 | 5, 5, 5 |
| Three 6s | 600 | 6, 6, 6 |
| Four of a kind | 1,000 | Four of any number, such as 3, 3, 3, 3 |
| Five of a kind | 2,000 | Five of any number |
| Six of a kind | 3,000 | All six dice the same |
| 1 to 6 straight | 1,500 | 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 in one roll |
| Three pairs | 1,500 | 2, 2, 4, 4, 6, 6 in one roll |
| Four of a kind with a pair | 1,500 | 3, 3, 3, 3, 6, 6 in one roll |
| Two three-of-a-kinds | 2,500 | 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 6 in one roll |
Three rules decide how the chart is used:
- One roll at a time. A combination only counts if all its dice came up in the same roll. Set aside two 5s, roll three more 5s, and you have 100 plus 500, never five of a kind.
- Only scoring dice can be set aside. A lone 2, 3, 4 or 6 is worth nothing, and so is a pair outside of three pairs.
- The higher count wins. When dice can be counted two ways, we use the bigger total. Four 1s in one roll count as three 1s and a single 1, 1,100, rather than 1,000 for four of a kind.

Rolls that trip people up
| Roll | Best score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1, 1, 1, 1 | 1,100 | Three 1s and a single 1. Counting it as four of a kind (1,000) would lose 100, so the higher count is used. |
| 5, 5, 5, 5, 5 | 2,000 | Five of a kind beats three 5s plus two single 5s (600). |
| 1, 1, 5, 5, 3, 3 | 1,500 | Three pairs. The 1s and 5s on their own would only make 300. |
| 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 | 2,500 | Two three-of-a-kinds. Counted separately it would be 200 plus 300. |
| 4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 6 | 1,500 | Four of a kind with a pair, worth more than the four 4s alone. |
| 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 2 | 150 | Only the 1 and the 5 score. A five-dice run is not a straight in the standard table. |
| 5, 5, 2, 2, 2, 6 | 300 | Two single 5s and three 2s. The 6 is left to roll. |
| 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 6 | Farkle | Nothing scores: two pairs are not three pairs. That is a farkle. |
How much a roll is worth
We checked every possible roll of one to six dice and took the best score each one allows. Fewer dice means less to work with and a much bigger chance of a farkle.
| Dice rolled | Chance of a farkle | Average best score (farkles count as 0) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 66.7% | 25 |
| 2 | 44.4% | 50 |
| 3 | 27.8% | 87 |
| 4 | 15.7% | 144 |
| 5 | 7.7% | 226 |
| 6 | 2.3% | 425 |
Taking every scoring die isn't always the best play, though. Our farkle strategy page shows when keeping fewer dice and rolling more of them pays off.
Scoring variations
Farkle is a folk game, and families score it differently. These are the variations our two sources list. You can switch any of them on under Settings in the farkle game.
| Rule | Our default | Other values in use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 6 straight | 1,500 | 2,500 (Wikipedia's base table); 1,000 or 3,000 in some games |
| Three pairs | 1,500 | 750 or 2,000 |
| Four, five, six of a kind | 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 | Doubling (three 1s 1,000, four 2,000, five 4,000, six 8,000) or adding the three-of-a-kind value per extra die (three 2s 200, four 400, five 600, six 800; six of a kind can also count as three pairs, and the game uses whichever is higher) |
| Two three-of-a-kinds | 2,500 | 3,000, or no extra combination (each three of a kind scores on its own) |
| Four of a kind with a pair | 1,500 | No extra combination (it still counts as three pairs) |
| Three 1s | 1,000 | 300 in some boxed versions |
| Short straight (1 to 5 or 2 to 6) | Not scored | 500 |
| Six dice with nothing | A farkle | 500 as a bonus |
The rules around scoring, like the 500 you need to get on the board and the last round, are on our farkle rules page.
