Mexican Train score sheet
A Mexican Train score sheet needs one row for each of the 13 rounds, from the double-12 down to the double blank, a column for each player, and a total at the bottom. Print the sheet below for the kitchen table, or type the scores in here and the page keeps the running totals. Lowest total wins.
Scores stay in this browser, so you can close the page and come back.

Score the pips (dots) left in your hand at the end of each round. Going out scores 0. The double blank counts 0.
How to fill it in
- Write everyone's name across the top. Round 1 uses the double-12 as the engine, round 2 the double-11, and so on down to the double blank in round 13.
- When a round ends, each player counts the pips on the tiles still in their hand and writes that number in the round's row. Whoever played their last tile writes 0.
- If the round is blocked (nobody can play and the boneyard is empty), everyone still counts what they hold. Nobody gets an automatic 0.
- After round 13, add each column. The lowest total wins.
On screen, the totals add up as you type, and the player in the lead is marked. The sheet is saved in this browser only. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Counting pips faster
A tile's value is just the two halves added: a 12-9 is 21, a double 6 is 12, a 0-4 is 4. Group tiles that make 10 or 20 and add those first. The highest tile in the set is the double 12, worth 24. A full 15-tile hand at the start of a round averages about 180 pips, because the 91 tiles hold 1,092 pips in all, an average of 12 per tile. That's why one bad round can decide a game, and why getting rid of big tiles early matters (our Mexican Train strategy page has more on that).
Questions
How many rounds are in Mexican Train?
Thirteen with a double-twelve set: one for each double from 12 down to 0. Some groups agree to play fewer. The Mexican Train rules page has the full order.
Does the lowest or highest score win?
Lowest. Your score each round is what you're left holding, so you want it small. A few groups play positive scoring instead, where the player who goes out collects everyone else's pips and the highest total wins. If that's your house rule, the sheet works the same way; just read the totals the other way round.
What if two players tie?
Pagat doesn't say. Wikipedia's article gives the win to the player with more rounds at zero, and if that's level too, to the player with the lowest round total other than 0. Our online game uses the first step and, if players are still level, they share the win. Settle it before you start.
Can I print it with the names already filled in?
Yes. Type the names, then tap "Print this sheet". Use "Print a blank sheet" for an empty one to fill in by hand.
